Originally, my daughter didn’t want to have any photos taken of her this year. Her grandmother requested she get at least one picture to hang on her wall. My daughter promised she would but we didn’t talk about it any more.

As her grandmother’s birthday started to get closer, we decided we would surprise her grandmother by doing a secret photo session and giving her a photo at her birthday party. So one day after school we drove around where we live and took photos in some locations that I had been eyeing up as I drove to do daily errands - the side of the road, an old barn in town that was conveniently decorated for fall, and down by the water. My daughter specifically requested a photo of herself reading a book under a tree so we added that location to our list.

It was honestly such a fun day and I loved exploring new places with my daughter. Even more special to me was watching my daughter shine in front of my camera - she was so confident and her inner beauty just exploded out! Check out more of my favorite images below -
